The Thurrock CAMRA Branch 'Pub of The Year' (PoTY) competition is now underway. Anyone wishing to judge the pubs that have been nominated for the PoTY competition must apply for their individual judging form by emailing contact@thurrock.camra.org.uk giving their name and CAMRA membership number.

NB The judging forms are unique and you cannot use a copy of one issued to someone else.

The judging form gives details of the pubs that have been nominated and is accompanied by the 2026 Judging Guidance Notes which give details of what to consider when marking the pubs.

All judging forms MUST be returned by email by Sunday 22 February 2026 to contact@thurrock.camra.org.uk and must include scores for ALL the pubs in the competition. Incomplete judging forms will be disregarded.

NB: Not all pubs are open all day, or even every day, so please check CAMRA's National Online pub Database website https://camra.org.uk/pubs for details of each pub's opening hours before visiting. Short notice changes to pub opening hours & days are often found on the pub's social media or their website.

Apologies to those branch members without access to email but the only way this can be practically run is via emails, could anyone without access to email please contact a branch member with access to email and ask them to assist.

We have previously received comments from branch members about the validity of the competition, however the number of branch members submitting judging forms has been very low and we can only base the result of the competition on valid judging forms actually submitted. So if you want to have input into the outcome of this competition then please request and return a judging form.
